About The Process

For the love of the game!

The Process: Make Your Sport Fun Again

We focus on understanding why you choose poor behaviors and thoughts, then diligently work to extinguish them. This framework isn’t just for sport—it supports personal and professional stability.

What we do:

  • Examine core beliefs that influence your performance
  • Bring reality to your game with practical, science-based strategies
  • Create a healthy framework to live your life—both on and off the field
  • Rebuild a joyful, sustainable relationship with sport
  • Improve focus, resilience, and overall well-being

Join us to transform your mindset, sharpen your game, and thrive in every aspect of life.

THE PROCESS

Self-identity is the most important facet of self-esteem and a successful relationship with sports, family, community, and faith.

If we have a poor identity,  we view ourselves as less than. We perceive ourselves as inferior, and our performance reflects that belief.

If we believe we are impostors, our fortune will eventually disappear.

At THE PROCESS, we focus on being well-rounded and faith-driven individuals, with a natural strength in sports.  We focus on using our gifts in athleticism and growing our mind and body in a way that exemplifies greatness.  We believe we were wonderfully made and will perform at our highest level.

Pitfalls of Athletes

Athletes often experience anxiety before a game or match. We address these specific issues and more:

  • Fear of making a mistake
  • Fear of how to handle a mistake
  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of being drafted or not making a team (e.g., D1)
  • Fear of scrutiny from others watching their performance
  • Learned helplessness when mistakes occur
  • Common fears extend to relationships and personal expectations
  • Fear of letting others down (coaches, teammates, fans)
  • Fear of feeling inadequate
  • Fear of disappointing family members

The core aim is to shift focus from fear to method and enjoyment.

Focus on what we are doing in the present moment.

Enjoy the game rather than playing with fear or anxiety.

Stop playing to please others (parents, external expectations, spectators).

Play to fulfill personal purpose, passion, and intrinsic motivation.

Founder

For over 35 years, I have dedicated my career to helping athletes at every level unlock their peak performance.  High school, collegiate, and professional athletes have learned how to navigate the psychological challenges that accompany playing elite sport. As both a student of psychology and a former competitive athlete, my approach is practical, structured, and grounded in firsthand experience at collegiate and championship levels.

I now focus the vast majority of my practice on comprehensive support for exceptional athletes.  With a strong focus on mental toughness, performance acuity, and personal development, I work closely with athletes to build confidence, resilience, and clarity in high-pressure situations.  In addition to performance coaching, I provide strategic college recruiting assistance, guiding athletes and families through one of the most important transitions in an athlete's career.

Playing and Coaching Experience:

Varsity hockey, Kent School (2 years)

Honored as a New England Prep School All-Star Team

Varsity Hockey, Lake Forest College

 Lettered all 4 years

Also competed on the Lake Forest Golf team after hockey season

Hockey Coaching:

Coached all levels from house leagues and AAA in the Dallas area and New Hampshire

Led U16AA team to the USA Hockey National Championship, earning a bronze medal

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I competed as a collegiate golfer on a full scholarship. I am a national championship winner with over a decade of competitive experience spanning junior golf, collegiate competition, high-level amateur events, and professional golf.  Having begun tournament play in the ninth grade, I have spent years learning firsthand the mental, strategic, and emotional demands required to perform under pressure at every stage of development.

My work focuses on the psychological side of performance and decision making, emotional regulation, confidence, and competitive resilience-integrated with advanced golf course strategy. I approach performance as a process rather than an outcome.

In addition to performance work, Steve and I work alongside each other to assist athletes and families with the athletic collegiate recruiting process.  I have an extensive background in navigating the recruitment process, from application, communication, exposure, to acceptance.

Individual Counseling/Coaching

As our process improvement initiatives grow, we will create more opportunities for individual clients seeking business optimization. Currently, I am taking on two new clients per month on an application basis only, focusing on streamlining business processes.

Observation of Games

This is an opportunity for me and my staff to observe how you perform under pressure and manage stress, which is crucial for business optimization. I will take notes and meet with the athlete to discuss strategies for process improvement in dealing with their stress and frustrations. Often, we can identify where performance declines due to negative feelings and self-defeating behaviors, highlighting the importance of streamlining business processes.

Organizational meetings with staff and coaches

This is a unique opportunity for organizations with multiple teams to engage in business optimization by obtaining direct feedback, addressing questions, and setting goals for process improvement to help athletes reach their full potential, while also focusing on streamlining business processes.

Consult with personal coach or skills coach

Skill coaches and personal coaches are the backbone of most successful athletes. I am available to consult with the coach to gain insight from their expertise, which can be instrumental in business optimization and process improvement, helping to tailor their mental competitive plan while streamlining business processes.
